Emory Career and Professional Development

In addition to resources offered through LGS-PDCP, other career professionals across Emory offer support and resources that can be helpful to LGS students.

Employer Events and Handshake

LGS students may find employer events through a variety of offices and platforms.

LGS-hosts a few employer info sessions each semester. These are advertised in the weekly Grad Report and the LGS Professional Development Calendar.

Most employer-hosted events and info sessions are advertised on the Handshake platform. Handshake is Emory’s system to search for jobs and internships and register for employer-hosted informational and recruiting events. Over 40% of Handshake’s job and internship listings are for graduate students.

How to Access Handshake as an LGS Student

All active Laney graduate students have access to Handshake. Visit emory.joinhandshake.com and select the STUDENT LOGIN button. Use your Emory NetID and password to log in. Note: if you are unable to log in using the “Emory Students” tab, please do not create a new account—email your name and student ID number to cpd@emory.edu.

Career and Professional Development Offices and Resources

In partnership with the graduate programs, the LGS Professional Development and Career Planning (PDCP) office is the primary career support office for Laney Graduate Students. This office offers career coaching, workshops, and online platforms specifically tailored to Laney master’s and PhD students.

The Pathways Career and Professional Development Center (CPD) also offers some resources and events open to LGS students. Pathways CPD is primarily focused on undergraduate career support, but LGS students are welcome at most CPD career fairs as well as industry networking nights and selected other events. CPD career fairs and networking events open to LGS students will be posted on the LGS Professional Development calendar and/or Handshake.
