When to Submit

Your official transcripts need to reach us by August 1.

Electronic transcripts with expiration dates should not be submitted prior to May 1.

Routine status emails will be sent to incoming students prior to the transcript deadline. Because of processing volume, we ask that students avoid contacting the office solely to confirm receipt unless they believe there may be an issue with delivery.

Students with missing transcripts after the deadline, and without an approved extension, may be unable to register for classes.

What Happens After Submission

Official transcripts are used to verify the educational information provided in your application. After verification is complete, paper transcript copies are securely destroyed in accordance with University records practices. If your institution issues only one original transcript, do not submit the original document. Instead, submit a certified true copy issued and certified by the institution. Uncertified copies will not be accepted.

Common Questions and Issues

Uploaded Transcripts

Transcripts uploaded during the application process are not considered official because they were not sent directly from the issuing institution.

Non-English Transcripts

Transcripts that are not in English must be accompanied by notarized English translations.

International Institutions

At U.S. institutions and in many other parts of the world, the transcript is the standard document to verify attendance, courses and grades, and degrees granted.  Since it is a standard document, it is generally easy to obtain in official versions. If your institution does not issue standard academic transcripts or official documents are difficult to obtain, contact the Laney Graduate School Admissions Office for guidance.

Credential Evaluations

Official credential evaluation reports submitted through Educational Perspectives or another approved service may satisfy the official transcript requirement.

Credits from Exchange or Study Abroad

If you took some courses at a university as part of an exchange, like a study abroad program, and those course credits are reflected on the transcript that includes your degree, then you do not need to submit a separate transcript from the university where you studied as part of an exchange. If you listed that exchange experience as a separate educational experience on your application, you may need to explain to us that the credits are included in another official transcript.

Already Submitted Official Transcripts
