Our Spring 2023 Laney Wellness Series kicks off on January 18 with the second panel discussion on Imposter Syndrome & Building Resilience. Our panel members will be back to share their stories and strategies and answer your questions! Please join Dr. David Jacho-Chavez (Director of Graduate Studies – Economics), Dr. Amanda Marie James (Chef Diversity Officer for LGS), and Dr. Hilary King (Director of Graduate Studies – Master’s in Development Practice) for an informative, enlightening session.

LGS Team Member Earns Miller & Winston Research Award for Doctoral Research |
Congratulations to Claire DePalma, Assistant Director of Student Affairs & Student Wellness at LGS, for winning the Miller & Winston Research Award! This award provides support for doctoral students’ research on topics related to psychosocial, cognitive, and moral development and the environments that have demonstrative influence on that development. Claire is a doctoral candidate at the University of Georgia’s Mary Frances Early College of Education. Her research examines antiracist praxis by white women in student affairs.

Connect Across Campus: Global Ties Conversation Partner Program
Are you interested in connecting with students from other programs and cultures? The Global Ties Conversation Partner Program, a partnership between LGS, Emory College and the School of Law, pairs members of the Emory community with diverse language backgrounds for cultural exchange and conversation in English. All LGS students, whether English is your first or an additional language, are invited to join. We will kick off the spring semester with a social gathering of all program participants, and then you and your partner will meet on your own schedule.

Santander International Grants
Santander International Exchange Grants aim to support doctoral students in building international networks and raising their academic profile. Research stays by Bonn doctoral students at a strategic university partner or in a priority country as well as stays by doctoral students from the above-mentioned regions at the University of Bonn are funded.

LGS Graduate Writing Group
Are you working on a writing project? If so, our group can help you get it done, 25 minutes at a time! Join our weekly graduate student writing group for some dedicated writing time (through multiple pomodoros) within a supportive community, as well as the chance to obtain feedback from a Writing Center tutor or an English Language Specialist, when desired. The Fall Spring 2023 writing group will meet weekly for a two-hour block beginning the third week of January (day/time TBD).

Emory’s School of Medicine, Vascular Surgery, seeks a post-doctoral fellow with experience in cell culture, animal procedures operations and breeding, and Western bot and qPCR. Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc.) in an appropriate field, excellent scientific writing ability, and strong oral communication skills. |
Training Opportunity: Emory Center for Digital Scholarship (ECDS) & Laney Graduate School (LGS) Technology in Pedagogy, Curriculum, and Research Program Application
TPC+R is a Teaching Assistant Training Opportunity Program (TATTO) extension program open to graduate students from all disciplines, designed to supplement other pedagogical training and professional development programming offered by academic departments, the graduate school, and ECDS.
TPC+R presents an opportunity for graduate students to explore using new technologies in their teaching and research. Participants will be introduced to an array of digital tools, discuss practical and theoretical models for digital scholarship, and receive assistance in developing materials for their own courses and/or research. Through TPC+R, participants will create their own final project in which they will incorporate digital tools and present to the class. This could include: a professional website, an outline for a digital assignment, a data visualization and/or another use of technology discussed and approved with the instructor.

Future Investigators in NASA Earth and Space Science and Technology (FINESST) Request for Proposals
The Future Investigators in NASA Earth and Space Science and Technology (FINESST) program is soliciting proposals for graduate student-designed and performed research projects that contribute to the Science Mission Directorate’s (SMD) science, technology, and exploration goals.
Proposals must present a well-defined research problem/activity and a justification of its scientific significance to NASA. FINESST awards are research grants for up to three years and up to $50K per year. Deadline: February 7

Let's Talk is not a substitute for formal counselling but can be used to receive short-term support and resources.
