Opportunities New! Guided Conversations on Race and Difference at Emory Laney EDGE is offering LGS scholars an enriching experience to foster a community that cares about differences and values diversity, equity, and inclusion. This activity has five modules, each with multiple sessions available on different days and times.
New! Racial Disparities, Injustice, and Social Inequalities Virtual Research Symposium Students conducting research related to racial disparities, injustice, and/or social inequalities may submit an abstract for a virtual research symposium. The event will feature students from a wide array of disciplines presenting 10-minute "speed talks." New! What Matters to You Most? Discernment for a Purposeful Career Path This workshop offers graduate students tools for ongoing career discernment—engaging in a reflective process of asking what, where, when, with whom, and why you are called to the work that only you can do. Participants will explore questions that are key to making meaningful, commitment-driven career choices. Flash Here and There Like Falling Stars: The Life and Work of Dr. Pellom McDaniels III In memory of Dr. Pellom McDaniels III, The Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library at Emory University hosts a virtual discussion of Dr. McDaniels’ life and work as part of the Rosemary Magee Creativity Conversation series and in partnership with the 2020 AJC Decatur Book Festival.
Academic Job Interviewing Workshop Participants will learn about the purpose and components of the academic job interview and how to prepare for different aspects of the interview process.
This workshop, offered through the Office of Postdoctoral Education in the School of Medicine, is targeted primarily to students in the biomedical science fields.
Building and Tailoring your Academic CV This virtual workshop will provide an overview of best practices for constructing an academic CV with attention to the distinction between a CV and a resume. Participants will learn about the expected and optional headings of a CV, best practices for formatting and organizing your CV, and how to tailor your CV to the institution to which you are submitting it.
Woodruff Library Workshops: Copyrights & EDT LGS students are invited to learn about navigating copyright and author rights in a digital environment.
Ongoing Events Laney Graduate Writing Group Join the weekly graduate student writing group to keep yourself accountable, make progress, and obtain feedback on your projects.
For the first hour, you will write for two 25-minute intervals using the Pomodoro technique. In the second hour, you will have the opportunity to receive feedback on your writing, via Zoom, with a member of either the Emory Writing Center or the English Language Support Program (ELSP).
Library Appointments Available to Faculty and Graduate Students Emory Libraries are available to support your research needs.
LGS Virtual Office Hours: The LGS staff will host virtual office hours for graduate students. Please contact the team member below to confirm an appointment and receive a Zoom link.
Emory CAPS Emory University's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will host virtual sessions to help students navigate the challenging times.
The Emory Community Hub The Emory Community Hub pulls together all of the ways students can connect in-person or online. Graduate students can find ways to get involved, find support, and broaden their network.

The CFDE is offering a Workshop Series on “Zoom Class Engagement,” that provides extra support for instructors and TAs who are planning engaging learning activities in Zoom class settings. One-on-one feedback on existing teaching projects will be available to attendees. Participants should come with an idea in mind and a class session to work on developing.
