Opportunities Industry Series: Professional Development in the Current Environment Emory’s Office of Alumni & Constituent Programs will be hosting five industry-specific sessions with topics that include: Healthcare, Politics, General Recruiting Tips and Tech, Consulting, and Government. The series explores ways to navigate transitioning into the professional world in the times of COVID-19.
Giving Presentations in an Online Environment In this virtual workshop, you will learn how to use your voice to keep your audience alert and focused, how to create slides that help your audience follow you, and how to use specific language to discuss your visuals (graphs, charts, images,) with clarity and purpose. You are invited to work on a portion of a current or past presentation during the workshop, so come with some slides (If you do not have a presentation to practice with, one will be provided).
Online Dialogue: Surviving and Thriving in the Unknown Have your summer or post-grad plans changed? Is it difficult to determine next steps? Join a small group discussion with alumni that covers ways to thrive during times of uncertainty.
Info Sessions: 2020-2021 Emory Advanced Graduate Teaching Fellowship (AGTF) If you are interested in learning more about the Emory Advanced Graduate Teaching Fellowship (AGTF), please attend one of these two informational sessions, which will discuss the AGTF in depth. This fellowship is intended to advance ongoing efforts transforming introductory STEM coursework on our campus and to support the professional development of STEM faculty and Graduate Teaching Assistants. Mini-CASE Webinar: S&T Policy During COVID-19 The AAAS Office of Government Relations is hosting a webinar for students interested in learning more about science policy and how the pandemic has impacted the way we advocate. The two-hour session repurposes several elements of the annual AAAS CASE workshop to directly focus on the impact of COVID-19 on the federal R&D budget, academia and research enterprise, and individual scientists.
Launch & Learn: 10 Steps of Career Exploration for Life Science Trainees Understanding the big picture for the career search process will help you navigate your career search successfully. Through discussion of each component of career exploration, participants will gain information and resources to strategize their next step.
BIO Digital Conference: Free Student Pass The BIO International Convention will provide virtual education sessions on the Biotech and Pharma industry's most pressing issues. Attend for free if you are a full-time student who wants to learn more about the biotechnology industry and the global collaboration around the COVID-19 pandemic.
Post Doctoral Fellowship Award: The James S. McDonnel Foundation This award provides students in the final stages of completing a PhD more freedom in identifying and securing postdoctoral training opportunities aligned with the student's interest and desire to obtain additional skills and experience that will further their pursuit of careers in complex systems science. Please contact your RAS unit and to inform them of your intent to submit.
Remote Teaching Resources LGS teaching assistants and teaching associates may attend webinars and utilize resources for teaching in remote environments listed below. CIRTL Summer Offerings CIRTL (Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning) will be running courses, a MOOC, teaching institutes , and online teaching office hours this summer, each designed to dig into specific aspects of inclusive, effective, evidence-based STEM pedagogy.
Libraries & Information Technology Services: Canvas 1-2-3 Beginning June 1, LITS will offer several Canvas workshops. Topics include: Canvas Essentials, Grading and Assignments, Student Activity, Canvas Studio, Quizzing, Analytics.
