Emory Biotech Consulting Club Spring 2021 Kickoff Emory Biotech Consulting Club invites students to the Spring 2021 Kickoff Event. Topics include an overview of the club, projects for the term, and how to join a team of interest.
P2P Grad Connect: Peer to Peer BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Mentoring Program This virtual initiative will connect early career Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and APIDA Laney students with advanced Laney graduate students.
Overview of Professional Communication Workshop This workshop discusses settings that require professional modes of communication and practical tips for using professional communication over email and virtually.
This is the first of a four-part series. All sessions are open to Laney Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Trainees.
SIRE Fellowship for Graduate Students in Natural Sciences Advanced graduate students in the natural sciences have an opportunity to receive a top-off fellowship in 2021-22. Fellows will commit about 8-10 hours per week in the Undergraduate Research Partners Program, an Emory College program promoting undergraduate research for students in all disciplines.

New! Hobby to Hustle Sprints Join The Hatchery, Emory Center for Innovation, for Hobby to Hustle Sprints. We will be building a cohort of diverse student-founded projects to help you make the right next steps for your independent project, side-gig, or new organization in six-weeks. The center will provide a grant to a select team from the process.
New! Strengths-Based Interviewing Introductory Workshop This two-hour virtual workshop is designed to help students talk to potential employers about how to stand out amongst the competition. This workshop goes deeper than traditional interview workshops and empowers students with language to discuss their unique strengths, based on Gallup’s CliftonStrengths assessment.

New! 3MT (Three Minute Thesis) Information Session This information session is being held to discuss the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition, an academic competition in which graduate students deliver a compelling presentation to a non-specialist audience in three minutes or less.
Benefits of participation include sharing research and its impact with a wider audience, refining presentation skills, taking part in a growing university trend and potentially becoming “Emory’s 2021 3MT winner.” Those interested in competing should attend the information session to learn more.
New! Jones Program in Ethics: Mini Grants The Jones Program in Ethics is pleased to announce a series of mini-grants for Laney Graduate School PhD students. Winners will convene a virtual JPE 610 session during the Spring or Fall 2021 semester.
New! Grant Writing Coaching LGS is offering grant writing coaching to students in the humanities and social sciences who are preparing grant and fellowship applications. Students selected for this opportunity will receive one-on-one mentorship and feedback on their grant proposals from Dr. Corinne Kratz, Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and African Studies Emerita, a founder and long-time director of the Grant Writing Program.
Ongoing Events NEW! Writing Support for Laney Graduate Students The advanced graduate fellows and undergraduate tutors in the Emory Writing Center are available remotely this spring to support Laney Graduate School students. LGS students can also make appointments with Writing Program faculty consultant, Dr. Melissa Yang.
The online Writing Center opens for spring on February 8, with hours throughout the day to accommodate students in various time zones. Make an appointment at writingcenter.emory.edu.
For further support, join the weekly graduate student writing group co-hosted by the writing center and ELSP to keep yourself accountable, make some progress, and obtain feedback. Details can be found on the LGS Writing Group Facebook page.
LGS Virtual Office Hours: The LGS staff will host virtual office hours for graduate students. Contact an LGS team member confirm an appointment and receive a Zoom link.
Remote Teaching Resources LGS students serving as teaching assistants and teaching associates may view past webinars and utilize teaching resources for virtual environments.
