Opportunities New! Laney Graduate School Completion Fellowships The Laney Graduate School and several Emory partners offer fellowships to advanced graduate students. Information on the fellowship guidelines for AY21-22 is now available. Interested and eligible doctoral students should visit the Advanced Fellowships page on the LGS website for the latest information.
Upcoming! Sci PhD: Business of Science - How to Land Your First Job SciPhD is back by popular demand! This webinar series trains graduate students in STEM fields with the skills necessary to pursue industry careers and beyond. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all three sessions. Attendees will also receive a license to an online tool (Flamingo) that allows users to apply skills learned in the webinar.

International Coffee Hour: How to Use SMART Goals to Make Independent English Language Learning Easier In partnership with Laney’s English Language Support Program (ELSP), ISSS, and the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life, this coffer hour includes information about how ELSP can help you and how to use SMART goals to make independent English language learning easier.
Deadline Approaching! Winter 2021 Data Incubator Data Science Fellowship Application The Data Incubator is an intensive eight-week fellowship that prepares masters and doctoral students, and postdocs in STEM and social science fields for industry careers as data scientists. The Winter 2021 session starts on January 11, 2021.

Public Humanities Discussion The Mellon Humanities PhD Interventions Project invites doctoral students in humanities or humanistically-oriented social sciences to join us for our Mellon Interventions meeting on “public humanities.” This meeting includes three faculty members who have been integral in creating the GRAD700 interdisciplinary seminar on public humanities.

Anthropology Colloquium | Social Interactions in Primate Genomics, Life History, and evolution - featuring Dr. Jenny Tung Join Emory's Department of Anthropology for their virtual colloquium featuring Dr. Jenny Tung. Tung will discuss her work linking fitness-related behavior, life history, and environmental variation with relevant outcomes on an evolutionary timescale, using tools from genomics and social mammals as the focal system.
New! Work Opportunity: Science Communications Associate The Chemistry Department seeks a graduate student worker for the 2020-2021 school year. The Science Communications Associate will help develop communications for the department, including blog posts and social media. Candidates do not need to pursue a science degree; however, an interest in science is a bonus. Candidates must be strong writers/editors. The position is part-time at $15/hour.

One-on-One Career Coaching
Laney Graduate Writing Group Join the weekly graduate student writing group to keep yourself accountable, make progress, and obtain feedback on your projects.
For the first hour, you will write for two 25-minute intervals using the Pomodoro technique. In the second hour, you will have the opportunity to receive feedback on your writing, via Zoom, with a member of either the Emory Writing Center or the English Language Support Program (ELSP).
Library Appointments Available to Faculty and Graduate Students Emory Libraries are available to support your research needs.
LGS Virtual Office Hours: The LGS staff will host virtual office hours for graduate students. Please contact the team member below to confirm an appointment and receive a Zoom link.
Emory CAPS Emory University's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will host virtual sessions to help students navigate the challenging times.
Emory Writing Center Consultations The Emory Writing Center supports a range of projects, including seminar papers, dissertation chapters, conference proposals, articles, posters, grants, job application materials, and teaching documents. Students are required to review fall 2020 procedures before scheduling a consultation. Learn about more writing resources for graduate students by visiting their LGS Support website.
The Emory Community Hub The Emory Community Hub pulls together all of the ways students can connect in-person or online. Graduate students can find ways to get involved, find support, and broaden their network.
Remote Teaching Resources LGS students serving as teaching assistants and teaching associates may attend webinars and utilize teaching resources for virtual environments listed below. Zoom Class Engagement Workshop Series The CFDE is offering a Workshop Series on “Zoom Class Engagement” that provides extra support for instructors and TAs who are planning engaging learning activities in Zoom class settings. One-on-one feedback on existing teaching projects will be available to attendees. Participants should come with an idea in mind and a class session to work on developing.
Workshops in the series are offered twice at various times/dates.
