Emory Global Health Institute's Global Health Scholars Symposium The Emory Global Health Institute's Global Health Scholars Symposium features Summer 2020 Field Scholars who will share their global health research and lessons learned from their virtual summer experiences. Winners of the EGHI/GT HACK COVID-19 Hack-a-thon will also present their projects. This event is open to the public.

New! Virtual Dissertation Bootcamp Open to Laney Graduate Students, this virtual boot camp is an opportunity for graduate students to work on their projects virtually for three hours. Attendees can set and share writing goals.

New Course! Spring 2021 Course: Reducing Drug-Related Harms using Big Data: Administrative, Geospatial and Network Data Sources (GRAD 700R/BSHE 760R) This course will prepare students to conduct ethical, rigorous, and theoretically-informed analyses of three types of “big data” (administrative, geospatial, and social network data) in the context of research and interventions into intersecting crises of substance use disorders (SUDs) and drug-related harms. It will apply the strengths of social and behavioral sciences – including a focus on theory and validity – to the emerging field of advanced data analytics.
LinkedIn: The Missing Manual The LGS Office of Professional Development and Career Planning is pleased to announce our new Emory license to the online course LinkedIn: The Missing Manual.
Using LinkedIn effectively can make an important difference in researching opportunities, communicating with employers, and networking. LGS partnered with the Office of Postdoctoral Education to purchase a one-year institutional subscription to a complete, step-by-step online course on mastering LinkedIn. This is the only guide to LinkedIn created by former LinkedIn employees.
Laney Graduate School Completion Fellowships The Laney Graduate School and several Emory partners offer fellowships to advanced graduate students. Information on the fellowship guidelines for AY21-22 is now available. One-on-One Career Coaching
Laney Graduate Writing Group Join the weekly graduate student writing group to keep yourself accountable, make progress, and obtain feedback on your projects.
For the first hour, you will write for two 25-minute intervals using the Pomodoro technique. In the second hour, you will have the opportunity to receive feedback on your writing, via Zoom, with a member of either the Emory Writing Center or the English Language Support Program (ELSP).
LGS Virtual Office Hours: The LGS staff will host virtual office hours for graduate students. Contact the team member below to confirm an appointment and receive a Zoom link.
Emory CAPS Emory University's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will host virtual sessions to help students navigate the challenging times.
Emory Writing Center Consultations The Emory Writing Center supports a range of projects, including seminar papers, dissertation chapters, conference proposals, articles, posters, grants, job application materials, and teaching documents. Students are required to review fall 2020 procedures before scheduling a consultation. Learn about more writing resources for graduate students by visiting their LGS Support website.
The Emory Community Hub The Emory Community Hub pulls together all of the ways students can connect in-person or online. Graduate students can find ways to get involved, find support, and broaden their network.
