6 Years and Counting: the Impact of Learning about Laney Continues
Earlier this month, the LGS-Emory Diversifying Graduate Education (EDGE) initiative hosted its 6th Annual Leaning about Laney visitation event. More than 70 diverse scholars from around the nation attended an on-campus overnight experience to learn what it's like to be a part of the LGS community. During the visitation, guest scholars met with LGS faculty, staff, and current students while attending workshops, engaging in conversations, and getting advice on submitting graduate school applications. Event speakers and presenters included LGS senior staff members, student organization leaders, campus life partners, LGS-EDGE fellows and ambassadors and alumna Frederica Smith, PhD, MSPH. Scholars also attended a mini-symposium where current LGS graduate students represented their programs and shared their research.

Emory’s Office of International Student and Scholars Services (ISSS) provides the following advice to help prevent students from becoming a victim of scamming:
- Don't rush: scammers create urgency and demand immediate action.

- Protect your info: never share personal details like SSN or bank info.
