Laney Graduate School Adds Multidisciplinary Environmental Sciences and Society PhD Program
In a world where the stakes for the environment and society have never been higher, the need for innovative interdisciplinary research is crucial. The James T. Laney School of Graduate Studies (LGS) is rising to meet this need with a pioneering new PhD program in Environmental Sciences and Society.
The first of its kind at Emory University, this groundbreaking PhD program was designed for environmental researchers who are interested in studying the interdisciplinary aspects of complex societal challenges in a rapidly changing world. Applications for the four- to five-year program opened on Sept. 15 and will close on Dec. 1, 2024, with the inaugural cohort beginning in the fall 2025 semester.

Tomorrow! Money Management in Graduate School and Beyond Workshop
Reminder! This workshop is open to all LGS students and will focus on common financial stresses graduate students face and ways to maximize financial options, such as budget creation/management and other beneficial topics.
The workshop will be facilitated by John R. Hepler, PhD, professor and vice chair for academic affairs and director of graduate studies in the Neuroscience Program in the Department of Pharmacology & Chemical Biology at Emory University School of Medicine.

The NIH OITE is offering the next installment of the Becoming a Resilient Scientist (BRS) series for trainees and fellows at all levels in the biomedical, behavioral, and social sciences. The goal of the series is to help trainees develop the resilience they need to navigate challenging situations at work and in life.

Business Concepts for Life Scientists 4-Week Course
This four-week online cohort course from iBiology (in partnership with LGS and the Office of Postdoctoral and Mentored Trainee Education) will enhance PhD scientists’ foundational understanding of business strategy, business development, and finance. The course is taught in a flipped classroom format, where participants will watch course videos asynchronously before gathering as a group on Zoom to discuss the material and actively engage with classmates and facilitators. An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching Course
This eight-module, self-paced, asynchronous online course is designed for graduate students and postdocs—future faculty—in STEM disciplines. The introductory course focuses on evidence-based undergraduate STEM teaching and gives an overview of effective college teaching strategies and the research that supports them. Sessions are free through Emory’s CIRTL membership.

EGHI Global Health Student Photography Contest
Let your photography be a force for inspiration, education, and change. This photography contest invites participants to share their unique perspectives on global health challenges both at home and abroad. The ATLANTIS Program is Currently Accepting Applications
Predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees engaged in research related or relevant to nephrology, urology, and non-malignant hematology are welcome to apply to the ATLANTIS program. Developed by the Emory School of Medicine, ATLANTIS was designed to train the next generation of kidney, urology, and hematology health scientist researchers, and to establish a vibrant network of mentors, mentees, and leaders in the field.

Open for Submissions: International Education Week Student Essay Contest
As part of International Education Week (IEW), all current students are invited to participate in in 2024 International Education Week Essay by submitting a 500-750-word essay on the impact global experiences have had on their time at Emory, whether in Atlanta or elsewhere in the world. Winners and runners-up will be invited to read their essays during an event during International Education Week.

Tutoring at The Emory Writing Center
The Emory Writing Center has graduate-level tutors trained to meet with you at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to final revisions. Tutors do not proofread or edit, but instead share skills and resources through dialogue and inquiry. In one-on-one consultations, they guide writers to revise and edit their own work. You can make up to two free appointments per week, either on campus in Callaway N111 or here.
