Dear LGS Students,
The Laney Graduate School is pleased to announce that the Professional Development Support Funds (PDS) program will accept applications for the 2020-21 Academic Year beginning on September 3. We are making technical updates to the PDS system but all information is up to date in the PDS Handbook. We invite students to refer to the updated 2020-21 PDS Handbook for all information regarding PDS and to start preparing their applications for the upcoming deadlines. Both the Handbook and the PDS calendar webpage now include the new deadlines for this academic year. For policies on travel due to COVID-19, please consult the University’s webpage for the most up-to-date information.
Please note the following updates for 2020-21:
In response to the increased needs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, PDS funds in the Research category may be used to support materials that previously have been ineligible, such as software and research books/articles. Please note that this is a temporary adjustment for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. The PDS calendar now includes additional deadlines, including the summer months, so we encourage students to apply as early as possible and throughout the academic year as needed. Applications for PDS funds in all categories must be approved by LGS before the conference, training, or research begins. Note that the only exception to this policy is for students who have attended remote conferences in Summer 2020 and wish to apply for PDS by the September 15 deadline. If you have any questions concerning PDS, please contact LGS.profdev@emory.edu.
