Marcelitte Failla, a doctoral candidate in the Graduate Division of Religion, was named one of the 2022 recipients of the Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellowship. This Fellowship champions advanced graduate students by providing resources to complete projects and studies necessary for finalizing their Ph.D. dissertation. This support enables doctoral students to lay a strong foundation for the continuation of their scholarly careers.

New! ELSP International Alumni Panel: Tips & Strategies for Success in Graduate School and Beyond
Please join the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement and the English Language Support Program for a discussion with international LGS alumni from the departments of Chemistry, Behavioral Sciences & Health Education, and Spanish. Each of the three panelists will share their experiences navigating graduate school in a new culture, strategies for improving communication skills, and tips for success after graduate school. Participants will have ample opportunity to ask questions. Call for Submissions: "Liberating Temporality and Spatiality" Conference
The Consortium for Graduate Studies in Gender, Culture, Women, and Sexuality (GCWS) is hosting our biannual graduate student conference “Liberating Temporality and Spatiality” in Spring 2023. This free conference will be in-person with some flexibility for hybrid presenters.
The GCWS conference “Liberating Temporality and Spatiality” welcomes graduate students in all areas of study to submit their abstracts or synopses of in-progress scholarly papers, dissertation or thesis chapters, article drafts, or in-progress film/mixed media works. Proposals may come in the form of papers, films, art, performance, visual art, or alternate forms not listed above. |

Call for Applications for EFOT Emory Foundations for Online Teaching (EFOT) is a professional development opportunity for graduate students from any discipline offered through a partnership between the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship and the Laney Graduate School Office of Professional Development and Career Planning, with support from the Center for Faculty Development and Excellence. In a 6-week intensive course (May 30th-July 8th), EFOT introduces best practices for online teaching and is designed for graduate students who are preparing to TA or teach partially or wholly in an online environment. |

CFDE University Course for Fall 2022 - Pandemic Reflections
Often discussions of pandemics focus on infectious diseases, public health outreach and communication, and perhaps even vaccine development and roll out. But pandemics are also like mirrors. They offer a reflection of both who we are and who we can be as a global community. What can they teach us about ourselves, our society, and even our world?
This course will focus on the HIV/AIDS and Covid-19 pandemics as two (ongoing) events that have taught us about science and disease. But they have also brought a sharper focus on issues surrounding stigma, religion, communication, inequity, and politics. Drawing on these two pandemics, we will begin to ponder how they help explore our current context more deeply and shape our responses to future pandemics. What were our lessons learned? How might we carry them forward? - When: Tuesdays 1 - 4 p.m.
