Scams are on the Rise
Fraudulent emails and phone calls, some targeting international students (such as the scam described here by ISSS), are becoming more frequent. Here’s what you can do: -
Be aware that the fraudsters may even have some personal information, like your passport # or your date of US entry, and therefore be very convincing.
- Check out these tips from the Emory Police department, which include taking a pause before you rush to act.
- When in doubt, don’t click on any links.
- For threatening phone calls, ask for a number and say you’ll call back.
- Check in with your ISSS advisor or Emory’s IT security before responding.
