Graduate Global Research Fellows Information Session
The Halle Institute for Global Research with support from Laney Graduate School, will offer up to ten fellowships to support summer 2022 research outside the United States for LGS PhD students in the pre-candidacy stage. The international research portion of the fellowship will be followed by participation in a Fall 2022 grant writing and professionalization workshop organized by the Halle Institute for Global Research.

Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society
In 2019, the Laney Graduate School became a member of the National Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society, which is named for the first African American doctoral recipient in the United States (Physics, Yale University, 1876), Dr. Edward Alexander Bouchet. The Society acknowledges outstanding scholarly achievement and promotes diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate. It is a network of preeminent scholars who exemplify academic and personal excellence, foster environments of support, and serve as examples of
CLASS: 1) Character; 2) Leadership; 3) Advocacy for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the academy; 4) Scholarship; and 5) Service. In the spirit of Dr. Bouchet’s commitment to these ideals, inductees into the

Nominations Open for Highest Emory Honor
The Marion Luther Brittain Award 2021-2022 nomination process is open. The award, the highest given to Emory students, honors meritorious service to the university community. Each year, two students are recognized, one graduate and one undergraduate. All fall 2021 and spring 2022 graduates are eligible for this year’s honor. Please see the

Grant Writing Coaching for Spring 2022
Laney Graduate School (LGS) is offering grant writing coaching to students in the humanities and social sciences who are preparing grant and fellowship applications. Students selected for this opportunity will receive one-to-one mentorship and feedback on their grant proposals from Dr. Corinne Kratz, Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and African Studies Emerita, a founder and long-time director of the Grant Writing Program. Please note that the two cycles indicated below are targeted for different groups. The Spring 2022 cycle is to serve students at any stage, and so they may submit a more generic proposal.

he Russell Sage Foundation Announces Dissertation Research Grants Program
The Russell Sage Foundation has announced a dissertation research grants (DRG)
program to support innovative and high-quality dissertation research projects that address questions relevant to RSF's priority areas: Behavioral Science and Decision Making in Context; Future of Work ; Race, Ethnicity and Immigration; Immigration and Immigrant Integration; and Social, Political, and Economic Inequality
. Proposed projects must be closely aligned with the funding priorities listed on the
RSF website
for any of these areas, contribute to RSF's mission to improve social and living conditions in the U.S., and demonstrate appropriate use of relevant theory, innovative data, rigorous research methods, and measures.

Join Emory’s Weekly Compassion Meditation Group
Fifteen years ago, the Compassion Meditation Group began in relation to a study by the Emory Psychiatry Department in partnership with the Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Training. The practices we use reflect a secular approach helping participants develop skills of attention and compassion for self and others. The Compassion Meditation Group is open to anyone at Emory though participants usually come from graduate programs, faculty, or administration. Several adults from the surrounding community also attend. Supported by the Emory Spiritual and Religious Life Office, our intention is to learn about meditation practices and apply them to our daily lives. We welcome beginners as well as longer-time practitioner. All find community in this practice group.

The
Emory Innovation Engine
is a grant program and short workshop series open to faculty, staff, and students who are developing programs for Emory student innovators and entrepreneurs. The Emory Innovation Engine provides innovation programmers in all schools and disciplines at Emory with up to $2500 in funding, plus targeted project consulting from The Hatchery's staff and student Innovation Interns to support effective program development, delivery, and sustainability.

Dissertation Bootcamps
Spring 2022 Dissertation Bootcamp sessions begin Thursday, Jan. 27, from noon to 6pm on Zoom. Dissertation Bootcamp sessions are a chance for students working on their dissertations to join others for some structured writing time and shared accountability. Each session will have breaks and time for reflection built in, and we will mostly run consecutive "pomodoro" sessions. The first session will be entirely virtual, while the following will, assuming conditions remain the same, be hybrid (both in-person at the Jones Room in Woodruff Library and via Zoom).

a unique identifier that ensures you are always correctly associated and connected with your academic work. An ORCID iD helps keep your research record accurate if you have a common name, if you decide to change your name, or if you publish under different versions of your name. ORCID iDs are now required by numerous publishers and granting agencies such as

so it benefits you to register for an ORCID iD and use it in the earliest stages of your academic/publishing career.
