The Europe and Beyond Seminar Series is pleased to present the work of Dr. Louis Ruprecht (GSU) and Dr. Peter Kitlas (Emory). Empowering Interdisciplinary Teaching and Scholarships Workshop
Emory’s
Institute for the Liberal Arts
is hosting a workshop for doctoral students to learn core interdisciplinary pedagogical strategies for designing and teaching classes that will help students see connections in new ways, building critical thinking skills, and laying the foundations for new perspectives. Participants will receive a $500 stipend for attending the workshop.

CCE and Emory NAACP Sponsor ‘Bloody Sunday’ Tour to Tuskegee and Selma
The Center for Civic and Community Engagement (CCE) along with the Emory Chapter of the NAACP are sponsoring students to attend a Bloody Sunday Commemoration in Selma, Alabama, on March 6 with a bus departure leaving from Atlanta. CCE will cover the tour cost for students interested in joining.

The GCC’s Virtual Career Expo (VCE) is an online career expo connecting PhD & Master’s students, Postdocs, and Alumni to employers for a virtual networking and recruitment experience. Faculty Women of Color in the Academy Conference
Emory is providing registration and travel funding for a limited number of graduate students to attend the Faculty Women of Color in the Academy (FWCA) National Conference. FWCA conference is a unique educational and professional opportunity for indigenous and women of color in higher education to network, engage, and learn with colleagues from around the country focused on leadership, career advancement, personal well-being, and scholar activism.

Grant Writing Coaching (Spring 2022)
LGS is offering grant writing coaching to students in the humanities and social sciences who are preparing grant and fellowship applications. Students selected for this opportunity will receive one-to-one mentorship and feedback on their grant proposals from Dr. Corinne Kratz, Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and African Studies Emerita, a founder and long-time director of the Grant Writing Program. Please note that the two cycles indicated in the program overview are targeted for different groups. The Spring 2022 cycle is to serve students at any stage, and so they may submit a more generic proposal.

EScAN SciComm Bootcamp
Learn how to effectively advocate for science in this 2-part science communication workshop with speaker Dr. Amy Sharma from Science for Georgia. In the first session, attendees will learn how to identify your topic, communicate effectively with your audience, and create a 2 – 3-minute advocacy pitch. In the second session, which will be in person, attendees will present their advocacy pitch, receive feedback, and learn tips about public speaking.

Emory is preparing for the annual Emory Day of Giving (EDOG) on March 30-31, 2022. EDOG raises funds that can be applied toward Laney-specific scholarships, fellowships, and awards that directly impact our students and community members. Through outreach and communications over a variety of channels (text, email, social, etc.), student, staff, and faculty volunteers called
Advancement Ambassadors
garner excitement and solicit donations.
In 2021, more than 800 volunteers helped generate $180,000, ultimately inspiring 1/3 of EDOG online gifts!

Leaders: Raise Money for Your Organization on Emory Day of Giving
Emory Day of Giving – an annual online giving challenge for alumni, students, parents, faculty, and staff to raise awareness and support for causes you care about – is happening March 30.
For a second year, student organizations will be showcased on the Emory Day of Giving site. This increased visibility will allow you to market your student organization through student matches and challenges. With our training and toolkits, plus your organization’s members and network, you can raise more support to expand the impact of your student organization. Don’t miss out!

Emory University Women’s Club Memorial Fellowship in Graduate Research
The Emory University Women’s Club Memorial Award in Graduate Research awards $5,500 to a doctoral student to support research, writing or living expenses related to the student’s dissertation. Applicants must be doctoral candidates in good standing. Any student from any program in the Laney Graduate School is eligible.

Robertson Graduate Fellow in Science and Society
The Nat C. Robertson Endowment in Science & Society, in collaboration with the Institute for the Liberal Arts (ILA), requests applications for this inaugural year-long graduate student fellowship from September 1, 2022-August 31, 2023. This opportunity is open to any Laney Graduate School students in candidacy for their PhD and can be used in addition to existing funds.

Sheila Carson Dissertation Completion Fellowship for History PhD Students
The Sheila Carson Dissertation Completion Fellowship supports a student enrolled in the History doctoral program to finish their dissertation. The purpose of the Sheila Carson Dissertation Completion Fellowship is to support timely completion of Ph.D. work; it is designed for students whose work is far enough advanced so that completion and final approval of the dissertation during the academic year can be assured.

The Laney Graduate School maintains a graduate student exchange program with the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB). The program seeks to promote strong academic and cultural ties between the two institutions. One student may be selected to represent Emory at the FUB for the 2022-23 academic year (October 1, 2022 - July 31, 2023). Selection is based on a competitive process.
